The Power of Breathing

Team Black & White

We all breathe automatically, but did you know that conscious breathing has a powerful effect on your energy, focus and stress levels? More and more people are discovering how breathing techniques can help them become more productive, find calm in a busy mind and face life feeling stronger, both mentally and physically.

In this blog post, we dive into the power of Breath Work and show you how simple exercises, such as box breathing, can help you let go of tension and improve your concentration. Whether you want to perform better at work, are looking for more balance or simply want more energy throughout the day, your breath is a tool you always carry with you.

Curious how you can put this into practice yourself, and what a Breath Energizer session could do for you? In this post, we explain how breathing can positively change your wellbeing and performance.

Breathing is something we often take for granted. Day in, day out, we breathe without giving it a second thought. But did you know that breathing can have a huge impact on our wellbeing and performance? Through various Breath Work courses, I have immersed myself in breathing techniques, and I am really excited about the power of breathing and everything you can achieve with it.

During the Breath Energizer session, which you can book with us in combination with a meeting room, you'll learn various breathing techniques that improve your concentration and boost your productivity. It's a natural pick-me-up that gives you the energy to start your working day, or to recharge when the after-lunch dip hits.

The breathing techniques we cover during the session affect not only your physical condition but also your mental performance. By breathing consciously, you can calm your mind, reduce stress and sharpen your focus. It's fascinating to experience how simple breathing exercises can change your entire mindset.

Breathing is a powerful tool we all have at our disposal, yet we often don't make the most of it. During the Breath Energizer session, you'll learn how to use your breath to revitalise yourself and become stronger, both mentally and physically.

Box breathing, also known as square breathing, is a breathing technique that helps calm the mind and reduce stress.

With box breathing, you breathe in, hold your breath, breathe out and then hold your breath again, each for the same length of time. It's called “box breathing” because the breath follows a square pattern, with each side of the square corresponding to one phase of the breath.

To get started with box breathing, follow these steps:

  • Sit comfortably with a straight back and relax your body.
  • Breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 seconds.
  • Hold your breath for 4 seconds.
  • Breathe out slowly through your mouth or nose for 4 seconds.
  • Hold your breath again for 4 seconds, with your lungs empty.
  • Repeat this cycle of breathing in, holding, breathing out and holding for 3 minutes. If you practise this technique regularly, you can build it up to, say, 15 minutes. You'll notice that you can then calm yourself down and reduce stress. It's a simple but effective technique you can use at any time of day.
